Possible strategies to block a membrane pore (individual monomer of a protein)?

Hi everybody,

What could be the means to completely block the pore of individual monomers in a membrane protein against solute molecules? The protein expression MUST NOT be hindered at all. The only change should be blockage of the monomer鈥檚 pore. I am particularly interested in a strategy other than substitution mutations or applying potential inhibitors. Thanks in advance for your information. Saad|||Depends on your pore. Some ion channels can be blocked by using a bigger ion that isn%26#039;t generally found in biological systems, e.g. cobalt.
