Are there any other countries, besides S'pore, that hold weddings and funerals in the ground floor of flats?

Singapore is a country that boasts a diverse mix of races and cultures, and hence, is somewhere one can find a myriad of traditional practices and events. The Malays hold weddings while most Chinese families hold funerals for the lost beloved ones at void decks, or ground floors of flats. But I would really like to know if there are other countries who practise the same, regardless of their race or religion. So, do share!|||Not in the US.
